Stephanie Birkitt, David Letterman’s former sexual liason has been identified as one of the women involved in the David Letterman extortion plot.  Birkitt, Letterman’s former assistant who has made several appearances on the “Late Show,” lived with alleged blackmailer Robert “Joe” Halderman, who allegedly “was in possession of Birkitt’s diary, correspondence and photos — which he says incriminated Letterman,” according to TMZ.

Sources tell RadarOnline.com that “Birkitt and Letterman slept together for a period of time before he married his girlfriend Regina had their son Harry” and that Birkitt is reportedly “mortified Halderman is using her fling with Letterman to blackmail her boss.”  One of the women at the center of the David Letterman alleged extortion case is Stephanie Birkitt, his former assistant — according to the search warrant obtained by FOX 5 New York. And, the warrant says, Birkitt was the suspect’s girlfriend and we’ve learned she was living with him until recently.

Police: ‘Chunky’ escorts rip off intoxicated men

Mountlake Terrace police are on the lookout for a trio of escorts who are alleged to have stolen about $440 from four customers who had invited them over for a weekend party. The cops have their work cut out for them since they’re relying on four victims who were “incredibly” intoxicated and provided only the barest of descriptions.

According to police, the four victims decided, after a night of drinking at a Mountlake Terrace home, to pool their money and hire an escort from Craigslist early Saturday morning. “They found a woman whose picture they found appealing and called,” said Det. Sgt. Doug Hansen.

But when the woman and two female friends arrived, the men later told police, they found that none of them looked like the woman in the ad. The women were described vaguely to police as being “larger and thicker” than the female pictured in the Craigslist ad.

“The men said they were not as advertised,” said Hansen.

Nevertheless, the disappointed men — who ranged in ages from 22 to 46 — handed over their money while the women were still at the door, police said. One of the women then asked if she could use the bathroom, police said.

But instead of going into the bathroom, the women ducked into a bedroom and started rooting around for things to steal, including a Blackberry and some jewelry, Hansen said. The men saw her and tried to stop her, but the woman ran outside to her friends and all three raced back to their car, a maroon Ford hatchback.

The men chased after them, but one man was run over when he tried block the women from driving off. The man suffered injuries that required a two-day hospital stay, Hansen said. The men were were unable to get a license plate number.

The suspects were all described as being about 5-feet-8, white and “chunky,” in their late 20s, possibly from Tacoma. One had curly, wavy brown hair and called everyone “baby,” the men told police. The second had lip piercings and stringy brown hair. The third had short, sandy blond hair, according to police.

While trying to describe the suspects to police, the men decided to rate the women on a scale of 1 to 10. Three said the women all rated a “2.” But the man described by police as the most intoxicated disagreed and claimed they rated a “4.”

Michael Beasley posted the above messages on his Twitter account. The Michael Beasley Twitter account page was shut down later on Saturday night. There are reports that NBA has fined Beasley $50,000 for being in a room where marijuana was found at the NBA’s rookie symposium last summer.

The Miss Universe 2009 pageant will air live from the Atlantis Paradise in the Bahamas, on Sunday (August 23) at 9PM ET on NBC and Telemundo.  The Miss Universe 2009 Contestants will be narrowed down, and the final choice will be made at 11 PM ET. Unlike shows like the Emmys, this event does not run over, so you can expect it to happen at that time.

Contestants from 84 countries will be competing for the coveted title of the 58-year-old pageant. The winner will be crowned by reigning Miss Universe Dayana Mendoza from Venezuela.

Billy Bush, co-anchor of Access Hollywood and Claudia Jordan of Celebrity Apprentice, will host the competition. Superstar Flo Rida will perform his hugely successful hits, “Right Round” and “Jump” as part of a two song medley during the Swimsuit Competition portion of the telecast. Included in the show will also be a performance by reality star Heidi Pratt featuring her single “Body Language.”

Karen Cunagin Sypher requested money in exchange for her silence. Coach Rick Pitino’s wife Joanne Pitino has kept quiet about this case and Pitino will not be giving interviews and will try to solve the case privately, according to his lawyer Steve Pence.

U of K Athletic Director Tom Jurich said in a statement Tuesday that “Coach Pitino has been truthful with us about this matter all along and we stand by him and his family during this process.”

University of Kentucky President James Ramsey released a statement Tuesday night saying: “Several months ago Coach Pitino informed me about the alleged extortion attempt. I’ve now been informed that there may be other details which, if true, I find surprising. My thoughts are with Coach Pitino and his family.”
